Hey, my name
is Eli and I guess this is the part where I tell you a little about myself. I was born in Indiana in 1976. I learned
how to etch from my Dad and have been "pulling" prints for as long as I can remember. In fact, I still
use the same printing press I used back then! Growing up, I would travel with him during the summer to various art shows
where I would learn a lot about the trade. In high school I decided to branch out on my own and began building
my own portfolio. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000 with a degree in printmaking.
I continue to sucessfully work art fairs and just recently decided to take this thing to the web.
My work
tends to deal with urban architectural themes and is intended to illustrate the chaos and inherent beauty that can be found
in our collective cities. I rely heavily on my skills in drawing and etching to accomplish my pieces and believe in traditional
art-making and honing ones skills for the betterment of his craft. This being said, I also believe art should be inclusive
and not just for the elite. My ideas are expressed simply, to appeal to almost anybody, however the
viewer should not underestimate what is really being portrayed. In the end, I want the viewer to take away what he or
she wants from my art and hopefully see the beauty that lies everywhere in the urban landscape.
So, thats about
it. Take a few minutes and look through my portfolio, if you see something you like, I'll be happy to get it to
you as quickly as possible. Also, if you have any questions, concerns or comments let me know and I will try my best
to accommodate you. I can't wait to hear from you!
